The Audi Q5 crossover came out in 2008 and had a mid-cycle refresh in 2012. It enters its second generation with the 2018 model year with a new look, new technology, and a new powertrain. We're looking forward to offering it to the New Hampshire and Massachusetts drivers we serve at Audi Nashua. Here's a preview of what to expect.
As one of the best-selling 2017 Audi models, the Audi Q5 holds a significant place in the lineup. The approach to the second generation's appearance was decidedly conservative. The front and rear fasciae are more aggressive, but in profile, the 2018 Audi Q5 looks a lot like the 2017 Audi Q5.

2018 Audi Q5 Details
The powertrain options go from two to one. The sole engine -- for now -- is a turbocharged 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine that makes 252 horsepower and 272 lb.-ft. torque. The seven-speed dual-clutch transmission is also new. Even the Audi Quattro AWD system is upgraded with Ultra technology. The dual clutch allows for the center differential to be left out, and also allows the vehicle to be used in FWD to reduce drag and save fuel.
Thanks to larger overall dimensions, the interior -- especially rear passenger and cargo space -- is larger, yet the 2018 Audi Q5 is also 198 pounds lighter. The reduced weight and more efficient engine are likely to mean fuel economy the same as, or better than, the 2017 model.
Standard safety features include forward collision warning and automatic braking with pedestrian detection. Other standard technology includes drive mode selection and compatibility with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
2018 Audi Q5 Safety and Special Features
Other features are optional on lower trims but may come as standard equipment in the upper trim levels, such as Virtual Cockpit digital display, HUD, mobile wi-fi hot spot, a Bang & Olufsen audio system, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control.
Buying a 2018 Audi Q5
Early reviews of the 2018 Audi Q5 note that if you pay attention only to appearances, the redesign is a subtle one. However, anyone buying a new Audi vehicle isn't buying on looks alone. When the new Audi crossover arrives, you're going to see some significant changes beneath the sheet metal that make a difference in how it handles and the quality of the drive it offers.
